KENNEWICK — Wa-Hi bounced back from its first loss of the season on Friday night to take a 62-33 Mid-Columbia Conference victory over Kennewick Saturday at the Lions Den.
Mikayla Ferenz led the way with a 3-of-5 shooting night from behind the 3-point arc and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. She finished with a team-high 17 points.
The Lions’ bright spot came from Panisesi Taimani who connected on 9-of-11 shots from the field and finished with a game-high 18 points.
The Blue Devil defense stepped it up as Wa-Hi expanded a 35-21 halftime lead into the final 62-33 margin. Wa-Hi limited the Lions to only 12 second-half points and forced 17 Lion turnovers on the night.
Wa-Hi finished with three scorers in double digits. Madi Doepker finished with 14 points and Maddy Sirmon added 10.
The Blue Devils out rebounded the Lions 49-26. Torri Crawford, Doepker, Sirmon, and Mikayla Ferenz led the way with five boards each.
Wa-Hi (5-1 overall, 1-1 MCC) comes back to Kennewick Friday for a league match with Southridge.
