My friend — a Walla Walla native, cultured, retired teacher, world traveler, Whitman grad — visited me for one day two years ago.
We had only a few hours to get our visiting done. She’d heard about the downtown art and said she’d like to walk the once familiar streets to see things she’d been told of.
So we did Whitman campus, the library to see the cow and Main Street — all of it.
We had a lovely day. I’ll never forget her visit and parting remark.
She said, “One thing I should do early on is to take a course in art appreciation.”
