ECHO — DeSales fell to Echo, 56-53, here Tuesday night after shooting only 4-of-16 from the free-throw line.

“Not good, not good at all,” DeSales coach Allyn Griffin said of his team’s performance at the line. “It’s atrocious. It is unacceptable to shoot like that the whole night from the charity stripe.”

Michael Moore led DeSales with 16 points while Adam Eskil and Cameron Richman chipped nine points each, respectively, in the loss.

The Irish hit three from downtown, one by Travis Haen and one each from Eskil and Richman.

The Cougars had three players score in double figures and shot 45.2 percent from the field while holding the Irish to a 37.7-percent night.

DeSales led 46-40 going into the fourth quarter, but was outscored 16-7 in the final frame.

“We didn’t rebound well in the fourth quarter and gave up a lot of second-chance points,” Griffin said.

The Irish (3-3 0-2 Southeast 2B) play again Thursday, Dec. 27, in the D.A. Davidson Christmas Classic hosted by Whitman College.
