ECHO — DeSales handled Echo easily Tuesday night, defeating the Cougars 61-14 after limiting them to just four second-half points in a non-conference girls basketball game.

DeSales led 28-10 at the half.

“We played well and shot well,” Irish coach Tim Duncan said. “Our kids are working hard on the press and that is good to see. We had 19 steals while pressing for about half of the game.”

DeSales’ Allison Wujek scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the double-double.

“Allison Wujek has been struggling a little with her shot,” Duncan said, “so it was good to see her come out quick and play real well right from the start.”

DeSales bombed away from downtown again, hitting five from 3-point land as a team. Ashlyn Lyons had two from behind the arc and Emily Baumgart, Brigit Lyons and Molli Lesko all added 3s.

The Irish outrebounded the Cougars 47-16 and held a turnover advantage by forcing 28 Echo turnovers and only turning the ball over 13 times themselves.

The Irish (5-1, 2-0 Southeast 2B) play again at the D.A. Davidson Christmas Classic Thursday, Dec. 27, against Weston-McEwen.
