WW County Sheriff

  • 1300 block of Reese Avenue, Monday. Deputies investigated a report of animal parts tied to a fence. According to a Sheriff’s Office report, one opossum and the hind leg of a deer were tied to a fence with blue twine: deputies reported it appeared both animals were roadkill. A concerned citizen reported a similar incident in October when suspects unknown hung a dead coyote, also roadkill, from a nearby tree.
  • Prescott High School, 207 S. A St., Wednesday. A 15-year-old girl reported she was assaulted by another girl, who slammed the victim’s head into a locker. The 15-year-old fought back, and punched the reported assailant. The mother of the 15-year-old told Sheriff’s Office deputies the alleged assailant had made “confrontational gestures” in the past, but school officials did not take action. When deputies questioned the alleged assailant, a 16-year-old student said she lost her temper after repeated harassment by the other girl and her friends.
