Sweets seek new lineup of interns


Looking for a career in sports? An internship for the Walla Walla Sweets next season may be a chance to step up to the plate.

The Walla Walla baseball team is offering paid internships to aspiring sports professionals interested in learning the daily operations, according to an announcement this week.

Internships start in late May and run though mid-August, providing a chance to learn the primary areas of sports business: marketing, ticket sales, sponsorship, stadium operations, community relations and retail/merchandise sales.

The primary responsibility for interns comes on game day and to be the driving force of the stadium operations team. Jobs include stadium setup and breakdown, running on-field promotions, operating the guest services booth, working as an usher, ticket operations and more. When the team is on the road, interns will work closely with front-office staff to learn the responsibilities and daily tasks of graphic design, marketing and sponsorships.

“Our interns are critical to the success of our game-day operations,” said Sweets General Manager Zachary Fraser in a prepared statement. “We rely on these individuals to help provide a positive fan experience at Borleske Stadium, as they gain experience in all areas of operating a baseball team.”

The internships are paid. Interns will receive a monthly stipend, and out of town interns will have the option to be placed with a host family to help with the cost of living. For more details visit wallawallasweets.com/club/jobs .
