RICHLAND — Pomeroy turned a five-point deficit at halftime into a 12-point win against Liberty Christian Saturday night, defeating the Patriots 50-38 in Southeast 1B boys basketball.

The Pirates (6-1, 3-1 SE1B) trailed 23-18 at the break but took a 30-27 lead into the final quarter before blowing the game open with 20 points in the final frame.

“We made some free throws, finally,” Pomeroy coach Brian Koller said of the fourth quarter. “And they started scrambling and chasing us, and we got some easy baskets because of that.

Tyson Feider led the Pirates with five field goals for 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Kade Snyder chipped in another 10.

“Tyson and Snyder are both sophomores,” Koller said. “They both stepped up and made some shots for us.”

Pomeroy visits Tekoa-Oakesdale Friday.
