Crash on Highway 11 injures three; one airlifted

MILTON-FREEWATER — An 80-year-old man was seriously injured along with two other people in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 11 at Ferndale Road on Wednesday.

According to Oregon State Police, James R. Badgett of Milton-Freewater was driving a 2003 Dodge Neon on Ferndale at around 1:45 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Highway 11 and was struck by a 1992 Honda driven by Jesse L. Field, 19, also of Milton-Freewater.

Badgett was taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center and then flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle; he was in stable condition today.

Field was not injured, but his two passengers — Joseph Field, 24, and Jeremiah Field, 18 — were taken to Walla Walla General Hospital where they were treated and released.

I have said this before... But I really believe that frequent testing of elderly drivers is necessary....our reflexes and vision and basic motor skills are impaired as we age..
