Gerwin and Diane Jones of Walla Walla will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an invitational dinner at the China Buffet, hosted by Tammy Bradford and James Veatch.
They met as youths at Green Park Elementary School. On Dec. 5, 1962, they married at the home of Gordon E. Matthews, the bride’s father.
Gerwin is a Whitman College graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy sub rescue, worked for Sherwin-Williams Paint Store and then at Cox-Jones Insurance from 1967-2006.
He enjoys riding and showing Arabian horses and baseball.
A homemaker, Diane is an artist and has a horse business, Shalwyn Arabians. She enjoys oil painting, riding and showing horses, and collecting beautiful Christmas ornaments.
Both are members of Walla Walla Wagon Wheelers, Walla Walla Valley Horsemen, Elks, National Reining Horse Association, the U.S. Equestrian Federation and Arabian Horse Association.
They have a daughter, Tammy Bradford, who they chose to be a part of their family more than 40-years ago; and a son, Shane Laib, who has been a part of their family since 1986; two grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
