Dayton boys edged in final game of tourney

DAYTON — Dayton lost to Wahkiakum, 54-53, here in the final game of its five-team Christmas tournament.

“Lars Blix hit three from behind the 3-point line and scored 13 first-quarter points,” Dayton coach Ray Ramirez said. “He was shooting the lights out but we managed to stay within eight points in that first quarter.”

Dayton got 19 points from Isaiah Lambert and 13 from Wyatt Frame.

The Bulldogs shot the ball well from downtown with six team 3-pointers. Lambert had four from beyond the arc.

Dayton led going into the third quarter, 43-38, but couldn’t hold on for the win.

Dayton hit just 2-of-4 from the free throw line while Wahkiakium hit 8-of-11 from the charity stripe.

The Bulldogs (2-7 overall, 1-1 Southeast 2B) visit Lewiston’s junior varsity Friday.
