POMEROY — Pomeroy placed fourth out of nine at its Christmas wrestling tournament Saturday.
Kittitas took first with 96.5 team points and Prairie grabbed runner up with 86. Wahkiakum took third with 78.5 and the Pirates rounded out the top four with 60 points.
Waitsburg-Prescott, White Swan, Lind/Ritzville, Joseph and Granger also fielded teams in the tournament.
Eight of the 12 available Pirate wrestlers placed in the tournament.
Wyatt Jenkins (170 pounds) headlined the event for Pomeroy with a first-place finish and three wins by pin.
The Pirates’ Ryan Smith (160) garnered a second-place finish. He pinned three wrestlers and lost a match by decision.
Also taking second place for the Pirates was Clayton Kind at 120. Tyler King finished third at 170.
Havin Heytvelt (138) pinned two, was pinned once and won a match by decision to take third.
Taylor Lewis (152) finished fourth.
Kyle Hyer (160) and Steven Wysocki (126) each placed fifth for the Pirates.
Pomeroy went 8-3 as a team in a Friday tune-up event for the tournament.
The Pirates will wrestle again Jan. 4th and 5th at the Joseph tournament.
