WALLA WALLA - Walla Walla's two Little Leagues will have their first baseball registrations for boys and girls ages 4-12 at Shopko from 5:30-8 p.m. today, from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, from 5:30-8 p.m. on Feb. 8, and from 1-4 p.m. Feb. 11.
Fees will vary by division, from $50 to $65 per player, although the Challenger Division hosted at Pacific costs just $25 per player ages 5-18 years old. Challenger is for players with physical or emotional challenges.
Little League Baseball, Inc., requires that a parent/legal guardian register each player. A copy documenting the age of each player from the parent/guardian must be presented at registration. "Proof of Age" is a state or federally issued birth certificate; a hospital record is not acceptable.
Residency Eligibility Requirements shall be established and supported by three or more documents, dated or in force between Feb. 1, 2011 (previous year) and Feb. 1, 2012 (current year). For instance, a driver's license that was issued a number of years earlier, but was in force between the dates noted, is acceptable. However, one utility bill that is dated outside the dates noted is not acceptable. To find out which documents are acceptable, go to website www.littleleague.org under "Forms & Publications" proof of residence.
When players have lived in or have moved outside the league's boundaries, the player agent must fill out a waiver form. All waivers must be signed and approved by each League president, district administrator or in some cases by the Charter Committee prior to the first tryout for Majors Division.
Volunteers are needed for managers, coaches, team parents and umpires. All volunteers need to fill out and pass a background check.
