Walla Walla's next fire, police chiefs were named at City Council meeting

WALLA WALLA - The city's next fire and police chiefs were named at tonight's City Council meeting.

Long-time Walla Walla Fire Department employee Bob Yancey was chosen to continue as the chief, a position he has been serving in for the last several months on an interim basis after past chief Terry Thomas retired.

The police chief position will go to Scott Bieber, a commander with the Vancouver, Wash., Police Department.

Bieber still has to pass a background check, psychological evaluation and lie detector test before he can become Walla Walla Police Chief.
