Thorsnes paintings on exhibit at Pendleton art center

PENDLETON -- Paintings by artist Melinda Thorsnes are on exhibit through Feb. 28 at the Pendleton Center for the Arts, 214 N. Main St.

Thorsnes studied art at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland and the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland.

She has been exhibiting her highly saturated figurative oil paintings in solo shows since the early 1970s in Northwest venues, including the Elizabeth Leach and Froelick galleries, and in Philadelphia and New York.

Thorsnes taught figurative painting techniques at Portland State University, Portland Community College and other venues.

She lives in Corbett, Ore.

Admission is free. The galley is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 541-278-9201.
