WENATCHEE - No. 3-ranked Walla Walla Community College suffered a stunning 67-59 loss to Wenatchee Valley in an NWAACC Eastern Region women's basketball contest here Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors, who were coming off an impressive 69-47 triumph over defending NWAACC champion Yakima Valley on Wednesday night, slipped to 7-3 in league and 16-6 overall.

The Knights improved to 3-7 and 8-14 with the upset win.

"We did everything we could as coaches to avoid a letdown," WWCC coach Bobbi Hazeltine said. "We couldn't make shots. Our best shooters couldn't buy a basket. We got any shot we wanted.

"Wednesday, we looked like we could be playing for first place (in the league)," Hazeltine said. "(Saturday), we looked like we belonged at the bottom."

Wenatchee placed four players in double figures led by the 16 points of Shelby Posey, who grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

WWCC post Tai Jensen led all scorers with 17 points and claimed 10 rebounds. Forward Hailey Felgenhauer added 16.

"We had success going inside, then we got into foul trouble and their posts dominated us," Hazeltine said. "I've never seen a team so fired up to play us. They were fired up and we went through the motions. Sometimes that happens. We need to move on."

Walla Walla hosts Spokane on Wednesday.
