Walla Walla University women devoured by Wildcats

The WWU women wind up the regular season with a 115-34 loss to CWU Sunday, a day after falling to EOU, 87-44.

ELLENSBURG - Walla Walla University's women's basketball team finished its season with a whimper here Sunday afternoon at Central Washington University's Wildcats devoured the Wolves 115-34.

The Wolves, who were defeated by Eastern Oregon University 87-44 Saturday night in La Grande, concluded their campaign with a 3-25 record.

Kelsi Jacobson scored 23 points and led six CWU players in double figures in Sunday's lopsided victory. Stacy Albrecht and Sophie Russell tallied 13 points each, Taylor Fittig contributed 11 and Alex Dunn Daisy Burke and Amber Moser each finished with 10 points.

Karly Joseph and Dani Carlman, a pair of juniors, scored 10 points apiece to lead the Wolves.

Rebounding and turnovers were both critically deficient areas for the Wolves. They were outboarded 44-29 and were guilty of 34 turnovers in the game compared to just five for the Wildcats.

Central Washington improved its record to 8-14 and plays at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., on Thursday.

In Saturday night's game in La Grande, five Eastern Oregon players finished in double figures as the Mountaineers improved their season mark to 20-7.

Colby Patton led the way with a triple double - 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists - while Kyle Miller finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Lynett Minthorn scored 13 points and Jorie Freeman and Korrie Bourn added 10 points apiece for Eastern Oregon.

Joseph scored 11 points to lead the Wolves.

The Mounties have a pair of home games this weekend, entertaining Warner Pacific Friday and Concordia of Portland Saturday.
