Edwin J. Estenson passed into the arms of the Lord the morning of February 11, 2012, at home in Walla Walla, Washington. Mr. Estenson suffered with Mesothelioma for the past two years. Ed was born in Wolf Point, Montana on August 30, 1930 to Albert and Mabel Estenson. He was the eldest of five children. Mr. Estenson grew up on a farm on the plains of Eastern Montana.

He married Betty Jean Ferguson on October 23, 1954 in Cut Bank, Montana where he was working as a farm hand for his aunt and uncle.
Ed entered the Navy in 1948 serving on the USS Curtis AV-4 in post-war Japan, Korea and the South Pacific during atomic testing. He attended Bob Jones University, Montana State University; he continued his college education throughout his adult life. For many years, Mr. Estenson worked civil service Air Force before transferring to the Corps of Engineers in 1968 to work on Dworshak Dam in Idaho. In 1973, he transferred to the regional offices of the Corps in Walla Walla. Mr. Estenson was a detailed man who was instrumental in the Program and Planning office in Walla Walla.
Ed was an avid outdoors man and he loved hunting, fishing, camping. After his retirement in 1988, he pursued his lifetime dream of flying. In the early years of retirement, he built two RV4 aircraft in the family home and help many of his friends from Martin Field complete their planes. Mr. Estenson was a talented engineer who could do anything with his hands be it woodworking, or metal craft. One of his proudest moments was winning first place in a car show for the restoration of a 1961 Studebaker Silver Hawk.
Mr. Estenson had a strong sense of community; he frequently could be found helping neighbors and friends with projects. If you needed help all it took was a call to Ed.

Ed is survived by his wife, Betty, of 57 years; his children, Debbie Cadiente (Gary Carlson); Neil (Elaine) Estenson; Valerie Moore (Damon); Julie Baker (Rick Rinkenberger). He has 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; TJ Cadiente; Christopher and Mackenna Moore, Adam, Nick and Joshua Estenson, Megan and Chase Baker, Justin and Melissa Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his siblings, Adeline
Estenson, Eunice Mattfeldt, Ralph Estenson and Milton Estenson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Memorial Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the College Place Presbyterian Church, 325 NE Damson Ave. College Place, WA. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Cancer Center, Walla Walla Community Hospice or the College Place Presbyterian Church through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W.
