MILTON-FREEWATER -- A family-owned fruit-growing business has been named "2011 Cooperator of the Year" by the Umatilla County Soil & Water Conservation District.
Earl Brown & Sons of Milton-Freewater was chosen for the award due to its dedication to the land, stewardship, conservation practices and community involvement, said Corrie Hadley, conservation district agriculture resource specialist,.
In a release, Hadley said the business "has evolved into a third-generation, award-winning farming entity with a strong commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability."
The company will be recognized at the district's annual meeting March 1 at the Legion Hall in Milton-Freewater.
