Elmer Aaron Hayworth formerly of Milton-Freewater, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at his home in Pasco, at the age of 90. Elmer was born July 21, 1921, in Summerland, B.C., to Albert Elmer and Pluma Fowler Hayworth, he was the eighth of nine children. His family moved to Oregon when he was a child. In 1945 he married Edna Mae Watkins in Kelso, Wash., the couple later moved to Milton-Freewater, where they would raise their family. Elmer was a Veteran of the U.S. Army from 1940-1945 where he served his country overseas. He was a longtime member of the M-F VFW #4567 and the Elks Lodge #2146.

He worked construction jobs when he was young, and spent the remainder of his life working for various farmers in the M-F valley. He enjoyed hunting and taking trips to the mountains, and watching old western movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna Mae; a daughter, Kathleen P.; eight siblings; daughter-in-law, Hazel; and a great-grandchild. Elmer is survived by his sons, Don Hayworth of Hermiston, Doug Hayworth of Milton-Freewater; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service with military honors will be at the Milton-Freewater cemetery on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at 1 p.m. xx
