WALLA WALLA -- A lockdown of the Washington State Penitentiary's West Complex will likely continue through Tuesday.
Inmates in the four living units, Delta, Echo, Fox and Golf, will continue to be confined to their cells today through Tuesday afternoon, according to an operational plan posted on the prison's website. All recreation, education and work assignments have been canceled.
The entire West Complex was placed on lockdown the night of Feb. 4 after a fight between four inmates in the commons area of Echo unit. Correctional officers who moved in to break up the fight were assaulted by two inmates. Four officers were injured.
An investigation into the assaults is continuing, said Shari Hall, prison spokeswoman.
The remainder of the prison is operating normally except that all visitation to the West Complex is canceled until further notice.
