M-F School Board, City Council plan joint meeting

MILTON-FREEWATER - The Milton-Freewater School Board and the City Council will hold a joint workshop Monday at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the city library's Albee Room, and is open to the public.

On the agenda will be discussion of common areas of interest, to include safety, economic and community development, and recreational and sports fields.

Forum on library services rescheduled in Prescott

PRESCOTT - A public forum canceled by the Jan. 19 ice storm is rescheduled for March 1 at the Lions Community Hall in Prescott. The forum begins at 6 p.m.

The forum's purpose is to allow Prescott area residents to share with the Rural Library District ideas for the kind of services they would like the district to provide in the community in the future.

The forum is part of the strategic planning process the district is engaged in to provide the best service possible to its constituency, said interim Director Aletha Bonebrake, who will conduct the forum.

Park Plaza plans ‘Star-Spangled Weekend' for early March

WALLA WALLA - Park Plaza independent retirement community will hold a "Star-Spangled Weekend" to commemorate the 81st anniversary of "The Star-Spangled Banner" becoming the official national anthem.

Area seniors are invited to events Friday through March 4 at the community, 1400 Dalles Military Road.

The community will host a wine social Friday and Saturday at 3 p.m., prize bingo Saturday at 1:45 p.m. and a complimentary barbecue lunch featuring ribs March 4 at 12:30 p.m.

Irrigation workshop, forum scheduled for March 7 at WWCC

WALLA WALLA - An irrigation workshop and forum will be held March 7 at Walla Walla Community College's William A. Grant Water and Environmental Center.

The workshop, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch for those who RSVP by Friday, runs from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Ideas sought for Touchet Valley Arts Council's fall musical

DAYTON - The Touchet Valley Arts Council Productions is seeking ideas for the 2012 fall musical. Suggestions should be emailed to the Liberty Theater at info@libertytheater.org or mailed to the theater at PO Box 233, Dayton, WA 99328 by Thursday.

Those wishing to be involved in the musical as an actor, director or stagehand should contact the theater.

An open meeting to discuss plans for the musical will be held Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the Liberty Theater Annex.
