Good citizens, like good parents, understand that an investment in education is an investment in the future. College Place Schools have been a part of my family for generations. My grandparents, my parents, my children and I have attended College Place Schools. Many changes have been made over the years, but one thing that never changed was good quality education.
There is no better time for our community to stand together and commit to building a better place to live in and a stronger place for our children to succeed than now. We truly are at an important crossroad where we can choose to move forward in a meaningful way, rather than stand still and ignore the documented needs of our district.
I hope that everyone will realize the importance of the bond proposal and the uniqueness of the opportunity before us.
I hope that all of our community members both with children in our schools and those without children currently in the schools will see the value of these improvements to the community as a whole and will support the bond.
The key is effective communication. A lot of times people don't understand the need and we have to make sure they do. This bond is addressing the most pressing of our needs for our school district and for our community. For those who do not agree, I plead with you to make sure your adverse assumptions are accurate prior to casting this important vote. Remember that the money authorized in this bond benefits our community, our infrastructures and our young people.
On April 17, our community will have the opportunity to make an investment in our schools. Please vote "yes." Our kids are our greatest resource in this country and are worth this commitment.
