John H. Lienhard passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in New Orleans at the age of 86.
John, the son of John H. Lienhard and Lorene Burns Lienhard, and brother of James Lienhard, was born and raised in Slater, Mo. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in World War II after graduation from Slater High School. He attended the University of Missouri, where he received his bachelor's degree in marketing and agriculture. While at MU, John met and married Elizabeth Jean Atkinson. John spent his career as a produce broker in California and Washington, where he was part owner of the Mojonnier produce company in Walla Walla. John was an elder in the Walla Walla Presbyterian Church, a member of Rotary International, the Elks Club, and various professional and civic organizations. John enjoyed retirement and golf in the Gulf Coast of Alabama and New Orleans.
John leaves his wife of 64 years, Jean Lienhard; daughters Marta Lienhard Vincent, and Lori Lienhard Likis and son-in-law Kenneth Likis; as well as his four grandsons, John and Jacob Vincent, and James and Benjamin Likis. John also leaves a sister-in-law, Barbara Lienhard Akeman; and nieces, Amy Lienhard Barber and Kary Lienhard Anderson.
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend with a wonderful sense of humor, who enjoyed life and people.
