Marla V. Whadford Irwin was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Payette, Idaho, to Bonnie and Dora Collins Whadford and passed away Feb. 18, 2012, in Richland.

When Marla was a teenager, her family moved to Selah, Wash., where she met Norma Jones and her mother, Muriel Patterson. She then moved with them to Hooker, Okla., where she attended high school, graduating in 1949. There she met the love of her life, Henry Irwin, and they were married in 1951. They lived in Seattle; Indio, Calif.; College Place; Buckeye, Ariz.; and Richland.
Her parents; siblings, Chet, Bus, Colin, Doris and Maxine; and adopted mother, Muriel Patterson; preceded her in death. Marla is survived by Henry, her loving husband of 61 years of Richland; sons, Stacy (Tracey) of Waterflow, N.M., Steve (Cindy) of Richland;
daughters Kristi Perham (fiance Clyde Weik) of Spanaway, Wash., Jana Treadwell of Los Angeles; adopted sister, Norma Jones Lambdin of Oklahoma City, Okla.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held March 10 at 4 p.m. in the Richland Seventh-day Adventist church.
