Rudy was born Feb. 28, 1926, to parents Carmen and Clara Allessio of Walla Walla.

Rudy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944-1945, in the South Pacific, where he participated in the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Rudy married Lindy L. Lamb on Nov. 15, 1947, and they made their home in Richland, where they raised their children.

Rudy was employed at the Hanford Nuclear Plant in security for 40 years. He retired in February of 1988. After retiring, Rudy and Lindy became snowbirds and traveled all over the U.S., where they met many friends along the way. After many wonderful years of travel they resided in Yuma, Ariz., for 13 years and then migrated to Salem, Ore.

Rudy loved basketball, fishing, camping, cards and family get-togethers. He cherished spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren the most.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Lindy L. Allessio; daughters, Cynthia A. Allessio and Janet L. Hamilton (husband Gary); son, Richard A. Allessio (wife Terri). Preceding him in death was his daughter, Deborah S. Anthony, survived by husband Bruce and two children. He is survived by grandchildren, Michael, Kristen, Jennifer G., Christopher, Jennifer W. and Katie; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association or the Kidney Association. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 5, at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, 605 Commercial St. SE, Salem, Ore. xxxx
