Police: Milton-Freewater shooting suspect arrested in Walla Walla

Walla Walla law enforcement officers at the Texaco on 9th Avenue in Walla Walla where George W. Craigen was pulled over and arrested.

FROM A WWPD PRESS RELEASE:

George W. Craigen was taken into custody this afternoon after several reports that he had been sighted in the area. Law Enforcement in Umatilla County and local agencies began scouring the area after the reports came in that Craigen was seen heading toward the Washington border at around 1:30 p.m. A Sheriff's Deputy observed the silver 1991 Toyota pickup northbound on 9th Avenue as it entered the city. Law enforcement initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and it pulled into the PDQ store at 9th and Chestnut. Craigen and the registered owner of the pickup, Jason Stiller from Milton Freewater, were taken into custody without incident at 1:45.

Law enforcement officers from Oregon State Police, Umatilla County Sheriff's Office, Washington State Patrol, and Walla Walla Police assisted in the arrests. WSP Bomb Squad Technician will be searching Stiller's vehicle prior to it being towed from the convenience store. This is a safety precaution only.

Walla Walla County Sheriff John Turner will be available for any questions from the media at 3:30 this afternoon.
