Garfield County Hospital District to seek one-year levy

POMEROY - Garfield County Hospital District board members made an 11th-hour decision Friday to seek a $750,000 one-year levy in February. Deadline for resolutions to be placed on the Feb. 14 ballot was Friday.

In the second special meeting in two days, commissioners unanimously adopted a ballot resolution estimated to cost property owners $2.32 per $1,000 assessed valuation.

Proceeds from the levy will help bridge the gap in changes the district is making to remain solvent, and the reimbursement expected from Medicare, according to district CEO Andrew Craigie.

The board's next regular meeting is Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the hospital learning center.
