Watershed partnership looks to expand advisory group

WALLA WALLA - A local watershed management board is seeking applicants to expand its advisory group.

The Walla Walla Watershed Management Partnership is looking for an interested stakeholder who could serve as an appointed member of its Policy Advisory Group. The person would be asked to serve a two-year term.

The advisory group meets quarterly, or more often if requested, to assist the board to coordinate and develop water resource-related programs, planning and activities.

The watershed partnership is a pilot program established by the state Legislature in 2009 to implement new, voluntary ways to manage water in the Walla Walla River basin to benefit both people and fish. It is governed by a nine-member board representing water-right holders, citizens, environmental interests, local governments and tribes.
