I found out through my great Google Alert system that once per day sends me a heads-up anytime it spots Walla Walla mentioned in something online.

This item about shipping the state's brew from sea to shining sea originated at Seattlepi.com.

The nod to our city was in the lead paragraph about the American Brewing Company, which can ship its products nationwide and online.

"You can now send a case of Breakaway IPA to Uncle Bubba in Bakersfield or to Aunt Wilma in Walla Walla," the copy reads.

Using Beerjobber.com, one can also send American Blond and Caboose Oatmeal Stout or a case including all three types.

In Washington state, unlike other states that don't allow intrastate shipping, one can order beer from American Brewing and Diamond Knot Brewing and have them delivered to addresses in the state.

Like so many other nonprofits, Rising Sun Clubhouse, 35 W. Chestnut St., is often in need of funds to keep its doors open.

Its goal is to maintain existing programs, establish a solid base for financial stability and move to a new site that will increase its ability to provide services.

The Washington Department of Social and Health Services is working to help them relocate to a building at Kelly Place on Dalles Military Road.

A November chili feed and silent auction fundraiser received tremendous support, including contributions from 20 area businesses and attendance from more than 100 people.

"Even as we continue to plan fundraisers and apply for grants, we are faced with the harsh reality that we are still in need of funds, especially during these tight financial times and as we anticipate relocating."

"RSC provides outreach to support those in the community with mental illnesses, according to a letter sent to supporters and contributors.

"For their sake, we need to keep our doors open and our services expanding. Please join us in our journey by contributing to the clubhouse."
