C. Robert "Rob" Carter of Milton-Freewater passed away Dec. 30, 2011, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla at the age of 58 years. Memorial services will be Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at 1 p.m., at the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Duane Geyer and Pastor Paul Zehr officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital or the Rob Carter Memorial Trust Fund through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.
Rob was born July 18, 1953, in Walla Walla, the son of Ray and Catherine M. Parsons Carter. He grew up on Chuckhole Lane. He worked with his family on its orchards and the Christmas tree farm. Rob attended local schools. After his schooling, he joined the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. Rob later began working for Don Johnson Plumbing.
He married Pam Kemp and the couple were later divorced. On May 22, 1977, he married Sally McNutt in Winnemucca, Nev. When the couple wanted to start a family, Rob started his own plumbing company. Rob enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and watching his daughters play softball. He was a stand-up guy and had morals.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Carter at the home; two daughters, Morgan Carter-Allen and McKenzie Marly both of Milton-Freewater; two sons, Justin Ezell of Pendleton, Michael Carter of Spokane; a brother, Allan Carter of Aloha, Ore.; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Cliff Carter, on Dec. 22, 2003. xx
