WALLA WALLA - Walla Walla High School seniors and their families can attend free workshops focused on understanding and filling out the federal financial aid application.

The events are being held Jan. 18 and 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Wa-Hi library, and will involve time on a computer filling out the electronic Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, with trained staff on hand.

The FAFSA is the universal document required for college financial aid including grants, federal student loans, work study and scholarships. Parents will need to bring 2010 tax statements to the workshops.

This event is being done in partnership between Wa-Hi and the Washington State University GEAR UP program. Contact the GEAR UP office or the Career Center at Wa-Hi for a complete checklist of the information needed to properly file the FAFSA.
