LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Sharia law remains a threat

A recent letter to the U-B stated that our Constitution protects our courts from Sharia law. Well, since political correctness and stupidity have taken over, our Constitution is under attack!

Fox News reported in October 2011 that a Florida appeals court ruled that Islamic Sharia law can be used to settle a monetary dispute at a mosque. All it takes is one opening here, letting down our guard there, and before we know it, our rule of law can be replaced by Sharia law. Radical Muslims have made it clear that their goal is the takeover of our courts and our country.

Here are a couple of reminders. Anjem Choudary, a Muslim cleric, says, "The flag of Islam will one day fly over the White House." Choudary proclaims that Sharia law will take over the world. Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna says, "It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet."

Anyone who thinks radical Muslims care one iota about our Constitution is in serious denial! When American judges won't uphold our rule of law as defined in the Constitution, then what protection do we have? When our own president, who took an oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States," calls it "a flawed document," then what protection do we have? Why doesn't Barack Obama reject Sharia law? If he thinks it's a good thing, then what protection do we have?

Obviously, some people are convinced that Sharia law is no threat at all, and that fears about it are "embarrassing." I guess this thinking helps them sleep at night. Evidence shows we're in real danger. We're not dealing with paranoia here. Ignoring what's right under our noses is worse than embarrassing. It's dangerous and deadly.
