WALLA WALLA - A holiday enforcement campaign resulted in the arrest of 27 drivers on investigation of driving under the influence in Walla Walla County, state officials said today.
The arrests occurred between Nov. 24 through Monday, said Kristina Moy of the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. Statewide, law enforcement officers arrested 3,812 drivers for impaired driving.
Last year during the same time period, officers in Walla Walla County on routine and extra patrols arrested 32 people for driving under the influence.
Agencies participating with extra patrols included the Walla Walla and College Place Police Departments, Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office and the Washington State Patrol. Additional support was provided by the Walla Walla County Traffic Safety Task Force.
The extra patrols were funded by a grant from the Traffic Safety Commission, Moy said in a release.
