ASOTIN - Waitsburg-Prescott's boys suffered a 49-45 defeat to the host Panthers in Southeast 2B League basketball action here Friday night.

W-P slipped to 1-2 in league and 4-7 overall.

"It came down to the end," W-P coach T.J. Scott said. "We took 80 percent of our shots in the key, but didn't finish. We got tight and it snowballed on us.

"They're a scrappy team," Scott said of Asotin. "They manned us up the whole game. They made the plays when they had to. It was frustrating for us and the kids. We couldn't get into any sort of rhythm."

W-P missed a couple of 3-point shots and two free throws in the final minute, Scott said.

Waitsburg-Prescott also hurt its chances for a road win with 25 turnovers and a 10-for-19 performance from the free throw line.

Asotin's Nate Dalton led all scorers in the game with 15 points.

Billy Brown was the only W-P player in double figures with 10 points. He and teammate Zach Bartlow grabbed 11 rebounds apiece.

W-P hosts DeSales on Friday.
