OLYMPIA - Ted Willhite, a Whitman College graduate who now lives in Twisp, has been appointed to the state Recreation and Conservation Funding Board.
Gov. Chris Gregoire announced the appointment Thursday.
A trial lawyer with 40 years experience in the civil justice system, Willhite received a bachelor's degree in political science from Whitman College and his law degree from the University of Washington.
In addition to his legal expertise, Willhite is an avid outdoorsman and active in community groups throughout the Methow Valley, board spokeswoman Sue Zemeck said in a release.
The board awards about $200 million in grants statewide every year for the development of parks, trails, boating and other outdoor recreation facilities. It also supports farmland preservation and habitat conservation efforts.
