Audubon field trip will search Walla Walla Valley for raptors


The Blue Mountain Chapter Audubon Society will host a field trip Jan. 21 to look for raptors in the Walla Walla Valley.

The group will meet at 9 a.m. to carpool from the Harper Joy Theatre parking lot on the Whitman College campus off Park Street They plan to return around 4 p.m.

Organizers Ginger and Rodger Shoemake suggest participants bring a lunch and binoculars, dress warmly and be prepared for some hiking.

The society's annual "Books and Birds" program will be 7:30-9 p.m. Jan. 19 in Gaiser Auditorium, Hall of Science, at Whitman College.

Four current books about birds, nature and the environment will be reviewed and discussed. Nature books will be available for browsing and purchase from Earthlight Books. The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information, call Tom, 529-8628.
