Park Plaza retirement center, 1400 Dalles Military Road, will present a free information session about gaining and using Department of Veterans Affairs' "Aid and Attendance" benefits.
Many local veterans and surviving spouses are unaware that their wartime service may qualify them to receive up to $2,019 per month, according to a press release from the company.
The session will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m.
The purpose is to offer details about the history of Aid and Attendance, outline the requirements to qualify for the tax-free benefit; VA planning specialists will be available to provide a free pre qualification interview for anyone interested in applying.
On of the VA's most overlooked benefit, the help is primarily designed for veterans 65 and older who have served anywhere in the world or on the home front during World War II, the Korean Conflict or the Vietnam War.
Veterans are not required to have wartime injuries in order to qualify. Healthy veterans providing care for a spouse, or vice versa, may also qualify.
Seating is limited. For more information call 525-6513.
