Walla Walla Sweets sign right-hander Brandon, infielder Vilter


WALLA WALLA - The Walla Walla Sweets have signed two more players for the 2012 season of West Coast League baseball. Nick Vilter, a freshman from UC Riverside, and Zach Brandon, a sophomore at Linfield College, will join the Sweets next summer.

Brandon, a 6-foot, 170-pound, right-handed pitcher is a graduate of Marist High School and originally from Cottage Grove, Oregon. Brandon was a four-time all-Sky-Em selection in baseball, and two-time all-state selection in baseball while at Marist.

Vilter, a native of Seal Beach, California, is a freshman at UC Riverside. The 6-foot 3-inch, 220-pound infielder, is a graduate of Los Alamitos High School. As a senior in high school Vilter hit .352 with 14 RBI, 6 doubles and one home run.

The Sweets open the season on June 1 against Corvallis.
