WALLA WALLA -- The Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, along with Alaska Airlines and 107 local businesses, announced a major first-quarter incentive program designed to attract visitors to the Walla Walla area.
Building on the airline's new policy, which allows Walla Walla passengers to check their first box of wine at no charge on outbound flights, the program includes airline ticket discounts, lodging and restaurant offers, ticket discounts to Ski Bluewood and the Fort Walla Walla Museum, as well as free wine tastings at 77 Walla Walla wineries for those flying into the Walla Walla Regional Airport.
"Not only do we have great wine and wineries, but also outstanding lodging, restaurants, historical sites, arts, and outdoor recreation," Wine Alliance Executive Director Duane Wollmuth said in a news release. "We want visitors to have the opportunity to experience it all."
The promotion includes offerings in Dayton and Waitsburg in addition to those in Walla Walla.
The "Take Some of Walla Walla Home with You" campaign begins Monday. Walla Walla inbound Alaska Airlines tickets can be purchased between then and Feb. 6 for use through March 31 to qualify for the promotion. Details will be available beginning Monday at www.wallawallawine.com/flyalaska, according to the release.
