Knebel picks up win, Pirates cruise at Royal Rumble

ROYAL CITY, Wash. - The Pomeroy Pirates wrestling team brought home two champions and a third place from the Royal Rumble, comprised of 14 teams, in Royal City Saturday.

Tory Knebel and Wyatt Jenkins won three matches apiece to place first. Austin Reisdorph went 1-1 for a third place finish.

Other placers for Pomeroy included Ryan Smith fourth and Jacob Moore fifth.

"Jacob Moore, at 145 pounds, had the toughest weight class," Pomeroy assistant coach Fred Knebel said. "Wyatt Jenkins and Tory Knebel had good final matches. We're just getting our kids ready for the postseason."

Due to Washington Interscholastic Activities Association match limitations, Pomeroy did not bring a full contingent of wrestlers.

Pomeroy next hits the mats Tuesday at home on Senior Night at 6 p.m.
