WAITSBURG - Tri-Cities Prep's 6-foot-5 Jameson Peterson almost proved to be too much for Waitsburg-Prescott to handle here Saturday in Southeast 2B boys basketball action.

Peterson scored a game-high 17 points before fouling out, but W-P overcame a 16-8 first-period deficit and used a 23-18 fourth period advantage to pull out a 58-50 win.

"We couldn't guard Peterson," W-P coach TJ Scot said. "We came out a little flat, and had to change defense on Peterson. We had to make others (beside Peterson) beat us. He got some frustration fouls and that was a big key."

Zach Bartlow posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead W-P. Dustin Wooderchak hit two from beyond the arc and finished with 14 points. Sterling Eastman knocked down three treys and finished with 11. Dalton Estes converted two 3's to score nine.

"We knocked down some outside shots," Scott said. "Those were big. It's a good win against a good team."

The win moves W-P into a tie with Asotin for second place and improves W-P to 3-2 in conference.

W-P travels to Richland to play Liberty Christian Friday.
