Louis E. Keiler passed away peacefully on the morning of Jan. 2, 2012, at The Weatherly Inn For Assisted Living, Tacoma, Wash. Born Nov. 10, 1918, in Rathdrum, Ida., to Clemont Jubinville and Frederick Keiler.
Louie left college at the beginning of WWII and enlisted in the Army Air Force becoming a bomber pilot and aviation instructor. While on leave in Spokane he met and fell in love with Betty Lou Alton. They were married on Nov. 11, 1944, in Denver, Colo.
After his military commitment, Lou began a career in banking with a move to Walla Walla in 1946. With Seattle First National Bank, Lou worked up to branch manager and vice president retiring in 1982.
In his spare time, Louie was a private pilot, avid golfer, accomplished card player and long time member of WW Country Club. Both Lou and Betty Lou were active in community service and donated much of their time to civic organizations. They have been members of St.Paul's Episcopal Church for 60 plus years.
Louie is survived by Betty Lou, his wife of 67 years; sons, Kevin (Joe), Fritz and Jay; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned on Jan. 28, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 323 Catherine St., Walla Walla. Reception to follow. Please share memories at www.edwardsmemorial.com. xx
