Weston city clerk terminated

No reason was given for the city letting go of Denise Sampson.

WESTON -- Weston City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to terminate city clerk Denise Sampson.

All Council members were present at the special meeting Wednesday afternoon, with Mayor Duane Thul present by telephone. A number of members of the public were present during the open portion of the meeting, along with Sampson, according to Council president Bill Boyd.

According to a published statement issued from the Council, the action followed an executive session closed to the public, at which the council conducted an employee job revie. The Council voted unanimously to terminate Sampson and provide her with a severance package.

Boyd, who answered the phone at City Hall this morning, said because the action is related to personnel matters "the city of Weston is not really at liberty to discuss any details."

Boyd said he believes Sampson worked for the city for 11 years.

Sampson could not be reached for comment.
