Cathy J. Barton, 60, was pronounced dead at Garfield County Hospital after a collision between her 2007 Jeep Liberty SUV and a 2001 Freightliner TK and 1987 Mark Trailer driven by 60-year-old Dwayne E. Emerson of Puyallup, Wash.

The 3:25 p.m. crash occurred when the semi went off the road into the ditch, then jackknifed and crossed the road, striking Barton's eastbound vehicle, according to Washington State Patrol reports.

Emerson was not injured. Barton was transported to the hospital in Pomeroy, where she died.
