LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Support school levy and street repairs

Like is the wrong word to attach to taxes.

Personally, I like policemen and firemen. I appreciate the idea that we share the cost of a garbage truck, driver and place for it to go. I like the idea that together we share the cost of schools for our children and grandchildren and that those schools will produce the doctors, lawyers, teachers and yes, garbage men, for the next generation to use and appreciate.

I like libraries, recycling, safe streets, traffic signals and all of those things we share in common.

I like living in a community, a country where we work together to make life better for all of us. I don't like it when citizens won't/don't share in the communal cost of our society.

If I need to share in the expense, then that truly is a benefit. I don't have to hire my own private staff to make my life worth living in Walla Walla. I can share with you and you can share with me.

Let's all vote for the school replacement levy and the needed street repairs and prove that we are indeed the great place to live that we claim.
