PENDLETON -- Umatilla County Commissioner Bill Hansell announced Tuesday he will run for state Senate in District 29. Hansell seeks to replace Sen. David Nelson, who is not seeking re-election.
Hansell was born and raised in Athena, where his family has farmed for four generations. He and his wife, Margaret, raised their six children in the area and are active in the community.
Senate District 29 now includes the counties of Morrow, Union, Wallowa, Gilliam, Sherman and a portion of Wasco County. The primary is set for May 15.
