Weston-McEwen girls' nice first half falls apart in Pilot Rock

PILOT ROCK, Ore. - A promising first half led to disaster Tuesday night for the Weston-McEwen girls, as they watched a narrow 21-20 deficit to Pilot Rock dissolve into a 58-39 Blue Mountain Conference loss.

"(In the) first half we played good defense," W-M coach Amber Doremus said. "We limited their rebounding and their offensive boards. We won that battle 12-to-1, so that was good. We were only down by one at half and then we came out and fell apart. It seemed like nothing was going in and we had some defensive rebound breakdowns.

"We let them have 12 offensive rebounds in the game, and when you give them opportinities like that, they're going to take them," Doremus said.

Taylor Rudolph led the TigerScots (5-3 BMC, 10-7 overall) with 13 points.

The TigerScots host Heppner Friday at 6 p.m. and travel to Enterprise Saturday at 4 p.m.
