ASOTIN, Wash. - Pomeroy battled through a see-saw match with Asotin Tuesday night, but ultimately came out on bottom, 60-58, in a Southeast 1B-2B interleague boys' basketball match.

Pomeroy (4-5 SE1B, 6-9 overall) fought from behind most of the night after Asotin (6-0 SE2B, 9-4) took a commanding 20-8 lead in the first quarter.

"It was a game of streaks," Pomeroy coach Brian Koller said. "Asotin jumped us pretty good in the first quarter, then we came out and would tie it, and then Asotin would pull out and tie it."

By the end of the third quarter, Pomeroy narrowed the Asotin lead to just three, 48-45.

The Pirates host Garfield-Palouse Friday at 7:30 p.m. and visit Tekoa-Oakesdale Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
