Walla Walla - Virginia Grace Braden, 93, passed
away January 24, 2012, at the Washington Odd Fellows
Home, 534 Boyer Avenue, Walla Walla, Washington.
Virginia was born March 24, 1918, in Moscow, Idaho, to
Harry and Grace Jones Bowers.
She lived in the Walla Walla area most of her life except for living
a few years in Moscow. On September 11, 1937, she and James Louis Braden
were married in Walla Walla. A real people person, she loved her family and
friends, enjoying social activities such as playing
cards, Bingo, Bible study and dancing. She spent
many winters in Yuma, Arizona. She also excelled at
hand work. Each of her grandchildren received an
afghan at their high school graduation. Her mind
was very sharp and she remembered details the rest
of the family could not remember.
Virginia was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge
#287, IOOF Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star and College
Place Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-inlaw:
Jim and Ruthmary Braden, Jon and Jan Braden
and Jerel and Patty Braden; her brother, Curtis
Bowers; nine grandchildren: Julie Braden, Jenny
Braden, Scott Braden, Andy Braden, Kendra Braden,
Jody Braden, Pat Braden, Jim Braden, and Ryan
Braden; seven great-grandchildren: Beau, Sophie,
Matea, Alex, Amy, Jonn and Tyler; and numerous
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her husband of 65 years, James Louis Braden.
The graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday,
January 28, 2012, at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120
S. 2nd Avenue, Walla Walla, Washington. Pastor
James F. "Skip" Pritchard, Co-Head of Staff of the
College Place Presbyterian Church will officiate.
