Wolves open Classic with win

COLLEGE PLACE - Walla Walla University's women's basketball team tipped off its annual Hoops Classic with an 86-59 victory over Northwest Indian College here Thursday night.

Karly Joseph hit 9-of-20 field goals and was 8-of-12 from the free-throw line as she led the Wolves with 26 points.

Sarah Brady led the Eagles with 22 points.

Walla Walla held a 39-26 halftime lead, and outscored NWIC 47-33 in the second half.

The Classic continues today as Salish Kootenai and NWIC play at 2 p.m.

On Saturday, WWU plays Salish Kootenai at 8 p.m. to end the Classic.
